Cherry Wood Slabs
American Cherry is native to Florida. This medium-to-large deciduous tree can grow up to 100 feet tall. In the colonial era, most furniture was made from this timber. Cherry and other closely related Rosaceae woods are photoreactive, and will darken over time with exposure to light. The heartwood is a light pinkish-brown when freshly cut, darkening to a medium reddish-brown with time and exposure to light. This valuable wood is used for furniture, paneling, flooring, cabinetry, professional and scientific instruments, handles, and toys. Cherry is known as one of the best all-around woods for workability. It is stable, straight-grained, and machines well.
