We talk a lot about our slabs and what beautiful furniture pieces you can make out of them. We even have DIY guides for finishing oddly shaped slabs and making beautiful tables. But let’s take a second and talk about how our Urban Recycling Program has put these slabs to your hands.
Our Urban Recycling Program grew out of a love for wood. Florida’s tropical climate is the perfect environment for many exotic species of wood. It’s typical to find exotic hardwoods like Australian Beefwood, Indian Rosewood, and Monkey Pod in a backyard or an empty lot. Many trees are felled to make room for Florida’s rapid construction projects or torn down by hurricanes. These trees would normally end up in landfills or wood chippers, but our Urban Recycling Program saves these beautiful logs from destruction by milling them into slabs or dimensional lumber.
Our Urban Recycling Program focuses on producing wood slabs and various sizes of lumber from the logs we save. We use the only Wood Mizer in the state capable of cutting logs up to 67” to mill our slabs, then we use our two vacuum kilns to create straight and stable pieces that woodworkers and homeowners can rely on for solid, custom furniture.
A love of natural wood is what started this company, and the beautiful results we see from woodworkers who use our slabs spur us on to expand our Urban Recycling Program.
